Choosing a rehab clinic

When choosing a private rehab clinic it is important to research the following:

Accreditation

Is the treatment centre fully registered and inspected e.g. by the Care Quality Commission, Health Improvement Scotland or an international equivalent?

Is the treatment programme accredited by an external quality assurance system such as Intertek ISO 9001:2008?

Staff training

Ensure that a proper staff training programme is in place and staff are professionally trained and qualified.

Effectiveness of the treatment programme

Rehab clinics should publish their success rate statistics preferably based on follow-up studies overseen by an independent outside agency.

Aftercare services

Treatment centres should be able to provide ongoing aftercare support to their clients or at least refer their clients to established partners.
